Visit Vermont / Cross Country Skiing & Snowshoeing
Vermont
Cross-country skiing, also known as Nordic skiing or XC skiing, is gaining popularity. It is easier for people not enamored with the speed of downhill, and it can be done by all ages. Cross-country skiing can be done on groomed or ungroomed (back country) trails. Almost all cross-country trails and touring centers also welcome snowshoeing and make snowshoeing equipment available if rentals are offered. Book a room at a bed and breakfast or mountain resort for a longer adventure. Many cross-country [Nordic] skiing centers offer trails, snowmaking, rentals, lessons, racing, and special events.
